I love these books。 This one shows a little girl who finds it hard to belong but figures it out。 Could also have students create their own friend to relate to Meesha!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Message is good at drawing but not good at making friends。 Will she ever be able to do it?

A relatable book that kept mine and Noah’s interest throughout。 Fantastic blue/red illustrations to highlight emotion too。

Making friends can be really hard and its great that the author has talked about how awkward it can be。 Its a brilliant piece to remind children that theres always a friend out their for you and that your hobbies/ interests are interesting to other people too! They may even be what bonds you together。 。。。more

Messha Makes Friends is a really cute story about friendships。 The story uses a storyline that kids are definitely going to be able to connect to no matter what age。 One thing I really like about the illustration is how they use dark and light colors throughout the whole story。 They each are balanced。 The pictures are darker and set the tone but also use a pop of color to make something pop out。

Meesha Makes Friendsby Tom PercivalHaving one of the kindergarteners pick a book they liked and read she pulled this book out。 Meesha learns not only to create her friends with her hands but how her use of creative nature is something she can bond with others。 Its a story of exploring your talent and sharing it。

We enjoyed the illustrations and it was a good story explaining how some kids can find it hard to make friends or be in large social gathering。

Hieno kuvaus erilaisuudesta ja siitä, että sosiaaliset tilanteet eivät ole kaikille yhtä helppoja。

This will be a useful title to suggest for children who have a hard time opening themselves up for disappointment。Meesha has a difficult time making friends。 Most kids are too noisy, too loud, or just not interested in the same things she is。 She begins to make imaginary friends out of craft supplies and recycled items, but finds them less than satisfying to play with。 When she attends a (birthday) party, she finds it too noisy and retreats to a quiet spot where Josh introduces himself and they This will be a useful title to suggest for children who have a hard time opening themselves up for disappointment。Meesha has a difficult time making friends。 Most kids are too noisy, too loud, or just not interested in the same things she is。 She begins to make imaginary friends out of craft supplies and recycled items, but finds them less than satisfying to play with。 When she attends a (birthday) party, she finds it too noisy and retreats to a quiet spot where Josh introduces himself and they form a fast friendship。Percival's gentle text is calm and reassuring, even when Meesha has concerns or reservations。 The artwork was rendered digitally on an iPad Pro with selection of media brushes in Procreate。 While most of the world is shown in shades of black/white/gray, Meesha and her world are shown in shades of blue, red, and (finally) yellow。 This makes it clear how limited her world is and how it expands when she makes the effort。 This is an excellent title to suggest for with who may not feel comfortable putting themselves out there - the rewards of taking the risk。 It would be easy to make this story preachy; I did not feel that was the case here。 A wonderful tool for counselors and therapists to add to their toolkits。Recommended for PreS-grade 3。 。。。more

Meesha is neurodivergent, she has Synesthesia and processes the world just a bit differently。 She also isn't very good at saying the right thing or knowing when to say it so it's easier just to build her own friends rather than trying to make friends with other children。 Eventually, another child is fascinated by her making process and Meesha is brave enough to include him, so they're making friends with one another as they make friends together! Realised I’d never done a review for this book despite reading to my class as part of my anti-bullying week teaching。Now I think this volume of Percival’s series on emotions could be hit and miss depending on your class/child but for the children I work with it’s brilliant。 I have worked with multiple autistic children who have really resonated with Meesha’s struggles to make friends and as such who found this book incredibly useful。 The idea that there will be someone who understands you is a p Realised I’d never done a review for this book despite reading to my class as part of my anti-bullying week teaching。Now I think this volume of Percival’s series on emotions could be hit and miss depending on your class/child but for the children I work with it’s brilliant。 I have worked with multiple autistic children who have really resonated with Meesha’s struggles to make friends and as such who found this book incredibly useful。 The idea that there will be someone who understands you is a powerful one that my class needed to hear。 。。。more

Read this to Ms 5 last night and she really liked it。 She's in the stage where she wants to make friends but, like grown adults, it can be a little nerve wracking to introduce yourself and start that conversation。 The idea that her exploring her passions and sharing her passions is a great way to start the conversation is something I completely agree with。 Find your people!! Another good book that I was able to read this book。 I think that this book is good for young readers。 I was able to read it to my first and third graders and both classes seemed to enjoy the book。 I really liked the message of the book。 I would also recommend this book to others。

Amy

This was a wonderful book about the difficult time some children have learning to make friends。
